Jay has a background of 34 years of teaching. His experience ranges from teaching martial arts to opening an integrated Mind/Body healing institute which he ran for 7 years. It was during that time that Jay first met and collaborated with Dr Zimmerman on integrating Harmonetiks into other modalities. He also worked during this time frame as a master instructor for 10 years of the Tai Chi for Arthritis Program developed by Dr Paul Lam,and adopted by the American arthritis foundation. Finally, Jay did 14 years working in business as the Operations and Customer Service Manager for the Music People an Exertis Jam Company.

34 years ago, Jay started teaching Martial arts in Northern Ct. The approach used was to know that each person that entered was looking, as he himself did, to see if martial arts could help them achieve the goal, they were setting for themselves. Those goals were mental, physical, and emotional. Working side by side with the team of educators that had grown around him, Jay saw that the schools themselves had become a vital part of the community. However, Jay had been injured and was finding it more and more difficult to “Do the Work” of teaching martial arts due to chronic pain. So, after 15 years, the physical injuries had so complicated Jays ability to effectively run the 8 schools he had grown into owning that he decided to sell those schools to heal himself.

This personal challenge led Jay to begin studying, researching, seeking out and finding deeper training in mind/body Complementary care protocols. He used this to solve his personal issue of pain. In 1998 Jay made a choice: sell his martial arts schools and establish The InnerChi Mind/Body Institute. It was during this time that Jay developed a transformational program called Intentional 5 Element Living. This program uses and integrates the latest applications of cutting-edge scientific research in mind/body medicine (psychoneuroimmunology) with oriental healing arts to deal with and transform people who have pain, stress and other chronic issues that makes it hard to live life with joy to a life filled with joy.

Jay encountered other health challenges including a cancer challenge and heart challenge. These challenges became opportunities that caused him to delve deeper into self-care and healing. It was during this time that Jay met Dr. Zimmerman and added him to his Team of providers that were part of his healing plan. It was after these challenges/opportunities that Jay and Dr Zimmerman began collaborating and aligning the original ideas of Harmonetiks with his programs for Stress and pain management.

It was also during this time in his career that Jay began working with Dr. Paul Lam, the founder of Tai Chi for Arthritis, now adopted and used by the US and several other nations’ arthritis foundations. Jay was one of the original master trainers that helped Dr Lam expand his program nationally in the US. Jay personally was doing teacher trainer seminars for over 10 years in the New England, mid-Atlantic, and Ohio in the east north central mid-west states. And was responsible for certifying over 6,000 Tai Chi for arthritis Instructors.

During this time Jay is working with his long-term friend Ken Caputo to integrate his experience in Mind/Body work and Kens momentum learning programs to develop a program called AIM designed to create strong long-term employees highly collaborative teams. Jay Retired in January 2023 to focus his energies on Harmonetiks and The Harmonetiks project work thru his company Village Muse Inc.
